The cheapest way to perform Hajj from Pakistan
The short answer. The government scheme is the cheapest route, and for most Pakistanis it is the right one. Within the private scheme, the honest savings are the room, the length of the package and the flight. The saving almost everybody misses is the room. The one place not to economise is the Mina camp, because that is where a cheaper package costs you something that is not money.

We sell private Hajj packages, so read this knowing that. It is also why the first thing on this page says the government scheme is cheaper, because it is, and you would find out anyway.
The cheapest route is the government scheme
It takes the larger share of the quota, 107,526 of the 179,210 seats for 2027, and it is the route most Pakistani pilgrims use.
It is cheaper because it buys less: longer distances, larger groups, and no company whose job is to answer your phone. For a fit pilgrim who can walk and does not need much organising, that is often a fair trade.
The comparison is set out properly in government or private Hajj from Pakistan, and how the quota works is in the Hajj quota for Pakistan.
Inside the private scheme: where the honest savings are
1. The room. The saving almost everybody misses
Look at any package with room prices and you will see the same hotel, the same dates, the same everything, at several different per-person figures depending on how many share.
This is the largest saving available to most families, and it costs nothing but closeness. A family travelling together can take a quad or a sharing rate and save a great deal against two doubles, with no difference to the journey at all.
Our rates are published by room on the Hajj cost page.
2. A shorter package
Fewer nights in the Kingdom costs less. A shorter package is not a cut-down version of a longer one, it is less time, usually less time in Madinah.
Whether that is a saving or a loss depends on what you came for.
3. The flight
One stop rather than direct, and flexibility on dates. Real money, and the cost is tiredness at both ends, which matters more for an older pilgrim than a young one.
4. Booking early
Not because the price falls, but because late bookings get what is left, and what is left is usually further away. Being early is how you avoid paying more for the same thing. More in how far in advance should I book Hajj.
Where not to economise
The Mina camp. This is the one. Mina and the walk to the Jamarat are the hardest part of Hajj, and a cheaper camp category or a worse position is paid for in heat, distance and exhaustion on the days that ask the most of you. For an older pilgrim it can be the difference between completing Hajj comfortably and not.
If the budget forces a choice between a closer Makkah hotel and a better Mina camp, take the camp. Every time. The detail is in Mina camps during Hajj.
Group staffing. A package that is cheap because there is almost nobody looking after a very large group is cheap until something goes wrong.
The things that are not in the package. A package that excludes meals and transport is not cheaper if you then buy them separately at retail. Compare the excluded lists, not the headlines: hidden costs in Hajj packages.
The savings that are not savings
An unlicensed seller offering a lower price. Not a cheaper option, a different thing entirely. The checks take ten minutes: how to verify a Hajj travel agency.
Anything described as outside the quota. It does not exist.
Cutting the gift budget by deciding in the shop. Write the list at home instead; it is the largest unplanned spend of the journey and the easiest to control. See how much money should I take for Hajj.
What we would tell our own family
Take the government scheme if you are fit and patient. If you are going privately, spend on the Mina camp, save on the room, be early, and do not pay for a longer package than your leave and your body actually want.
Send us your dates, how many of you and the ages, and we will tell you which of our departures gives you the most for the least, including when the answer is that the government scheme suits you better. Our departures are on the Hajj packages page.
