Hajj documents required for Pakistani pilgrims
The short answer. A machine readable passport with real validity left, your CNIC, records that agree with each other, photographs to the specification you are given, the vaccination record, and the relationship documents where a mahram arrangement applies. Two of those have a clock attached: a passport renewal and the vaccination with a waiting period. Start both the week you decide.

We will not print a specification for photograph dimensions or a validity period in months, because those are set by the Ministry and by the Saudi side and they are revised. What we can tell you is what a file consists of, what stops one, and the order to do it in. For the current requirement on any single item, the Ministry of Religious Affairs is the source, and we will tell you what we are being asked for this season.
The file
Passport. Machine readable, with enough validity left beyond your travel dates. Check the expiry today. A renewal in a hurry is the most common reason a Hajj file stalls, and it is entirely avoidable.
CNIC, valid, with the details matching the passport.
NADRA records that agree. This is the quiet one. A name spelled one way on the passport and another on the CNIC, or a date of birth that differs, will stop a file and is tedious to unpick once the season has started. Check them against each other before you apply.
Photographs, to whatever specification you are given for the year. Ask, do not assume; the requirement has changed before.
The vaccination record. One of the required vaccinations has a waiting period before travel, which is why it belongs at the start of planning. Nobody can shorten it.
Relationship documents where a mahram arrangement applies. Nikahnama, birth certificates, or whatever evidences the relationship in your case. Rules around women travelling for Hajj have changed over the years; what applies to you this season is a question for the Ministry and for your organiser, and we have written about where that stands in Hajj and Umrah without a mahram.
Medical fitness where it is required of you, particularly for an older pilgrim.
Bank and payment documents, which differ between the government scheme and a private organiser.
What actually stops a file
In the order we see them:
- Passport expiry too close. Every season.
- Names that do not match across passport, CNIC and NADRA.
- The vaccination left too late, so the dates are lost rather than the file.
- Photographs to the wrong specification, which is an irritation rather than
a disaster.
- Relationship evidence missing where it is needed.
Four of those five cost nothing to prevent and are discovered too late because nobody checked at the start.
The order to do it in
- Check the passport expiry. Today.
- Start the vaccination with the waiting period.
- Compare passport, CNIC and NADRA line by line and fix any difference.
- Decide the scheme, government or private.
- Ask your organiser for the current list for this season, in writing.
- Gather the rest and keep copies of everything, separately from the
originals.
The full sequence for the whole journey is in the Hajj preparation checklist.
For an older pilgrim
Allow more time for everything above, and ask early about the medical requirements. Carry a short written summary of conditions and medicines, in English, in their bag and in yours; it is not part of the official file but it is the document most likely to be needed.
More in Hajj for elderly pilgrims.
Copies, and where to keep them
- Copies of the passport, kept separately from the original.
- A photograph of every document on your phone and on somebody else's.
- The hotel name and address in Arabic, printed.
- A card in each pocket with the group leader's number and the office number in
Pakistan.
Ask for this season's list
Requirements are revised, and a list copied from last year's website is how people arrive with the wrong photographs. Send us your dates and we will give you the current list in writing, tell you which items have a clock on them, and check your passport and CNIC against each other before anything is filed. Our departures are on the Hajj packages page.
