What Umrah from Karachi actually costs, and what moves the number
"How much for Umrah?" is the question we are asked most, and it is the hardest one to answer in a sentence. Not because anybody is hiding anything, but because Umrah is not one product. Two families can travel the same week, stay the same number of nights, and pay twice the difference.
So rather than quote you a number that will be wrong for your trip, here is how the number is built.
The three parts of any Umrah cost
Every quote you will ever receive, from anybody, is these three things added together.
The flight. Karachi to Jeddah or Madinah and back. This is usually the single largest line, and it is the one nobody controls: it moves with the season, the airline and how far ahead you book.
The visa and the ground cost. The Umrah visa, your hotels in Makkah and Madinah, and the transport between the two cities.
Everything else. Food, Ziyarat, a guide, laundry, the Zam Zam you carry home. Some packages include these, many do not, and this is where two quotes that look identical stop being identical.
What the market looks like right now
For an idea of the range, published Umrah rates from Pakistan in 2026 run from roughly PKR 247,000 for a short budget trip in a quad room on economy flights, up to PKR 600,000 and beyond for a longer stay in a double room close to the Haram. Package-only prices, with the airfare taken out, start much lower, and return economy airfare from Karachi to Jeddah has been running around PKR 145,000 to 180,000 per person.
Those are market figures, not our quote. We put them here because the first thing anybody deserves is a sense of whether the number they have been given is reasonable at all. Sources at the bottom.
The five things that actually move it
1. How far your hotel is from the Haram
This is the biggest one, and it is worth understanding properly. In Makkah, the price of a room is mostly the price of the walk. A hotel you can reach on foot in five minutes and one that needs a shuttle are not different comfort levels; they are different trips. If you are travelling with parents, this is the line to spend on before any other.
2. How many people share the room
Quad, triple, double. Same hotel, same nights, and often a difference of a lakh or more per person. A family of four sharing one room pays very differently from two couples wanting two doubles.
3. When you go
Ramadan is the most expensive time of the year to perform Umrah, and the last ten nights are the most expensive part of it. The same package in a quiet month can cost less than half. If your dates are flexible, this is the cheapest saving available to you.
4. How long you stay
Nights are the unit everything is priced in. A shorter trip is cheaper, but note what is being shortened: most short packages cut Madinah, not Makkah.
5. What is genuinely included
Ask for the list. Not "full package", the actual list. Meals or no meals, how many Ziyarat, airport transfers both ends, and who pays for transport between Makkah and Madinah.
How to compare two quotes honestly
Put them side by side and write down, for each:
- Hotel name in Makkah, and distance from the Haram in metres
- Hotel name in Madinah, and distance from the Masjid an-Nabawi
- Nights in Makkah, nights in Madinah
- People per room
- Airline, and direct or connecting
- What is included beyond flights, hotels and visa
- What happens if you cancel
If both quotes answer all seven, you can compare them. If one will not, the lower number is not the cheaper trip.
A word on the cheapest quotes
There is always a number lower than everybody else's. Sometimes it is a genuine off-season deal. More often it is one of three things: a hotel much further out than implied, a connecting flight with a long layover, or a package that ends up costing more once the things left out are paid for on the ground.
