The Singapore visa from Pakistan

The short answer. A Pakistani passport needs a visa for Singapore, and the application is not one you hand in at a counter yourself. Singapore requires it to be submitted through a local sponsor: an authorised visa agent, or a Singapore resident or company acting for you. That single fact decides how the whole trip is planned.

Somebody in Singapore has to submit it

You do not post your file to the Singaporean mission and wait. The application is lodged by a sponsor on the Singapore side: either an authorised agent, or a relative, friend or company there who is willing to act for you and who has the standing to do it.

What that means for you:

• The agent relationship comes first. Before documents, before dates, the

question is who is lodging this. An agency like this one works through

• A relative can sponsor you, and often the strongest files are the ones

where a brother or a cousin in Singapore takes it on, because their own

standing there is part of the picture.

The file itself

Ordinary in shape: passport, photographs to specification, confirmed return flights, hotel bookings for every night, bank statements, employment or business papers, and the children's documents where a family is travelling.

Can I apply for a Singapore visa myself?

Not directly in the way you would for most countries. The system expects the application to come through a sponsor in Singapore, which is either an authorised agent or somebody local acting for you. My cousin lives in Singapore. Is that enough?

Often yes, and it is frequently the better route, because a resident sponsoring a named relative is a clearer picture than an agent sponsoring a stranger. They need to be willing and to have their own documents in order. Talk to them before you talk to us, because their answer decides the route.

Is three days enough for Singapore?

For a first visit, three or four nights covers the city comfortably. It is small, dense and easy to move around. Most of the people who wish they had longer are the ones who added Sentosa and the zoo for children and then ran out of days.

Is it expensive?

Yes, by the standards of the region, and that is worth saying plainly before you book rather than after you arrive. Hotels and eating out cost substantially more than in Kuala Lumpur an hour away. The trip is worth it; the budget should be set honestly.
